Train from Istambul to Teheran

Think about the train not only as a place for travel but as a way for entering into a fascinating world where the occasional fellow-traveller give us a fresh, human and daily vision of the country where we are going to.
The Trans Asia Express was founded in 1971 by the Shah of Persia. The express Vangolu connected Istanbul to Tehran, lengthening the route of Orient Express. After the train was suspended for lack of passengers until 2000 when the service came back with the name of Trans Asia Express. Every Wednesday at 22:55 the train leaves from the railway station Haydarpasa Istanbul and through Anatolia it reaches Teheran. This route takes just three days and three nights. Tickets cost 59 euros, you can buy them at the station two days before the departure or reservate them at any travel agency in Turkey.
To go in Turkey you don’t need a visa but you need it to enter in Iran . It costs 60 euros and is valid for 30 days. The passport must have two consecutive free pages and there shouldn’t be israeli visa.
